The Surah Isra (The Night Journey), also known as Surah Bani Israil, is the seventeenth chapter of the Qur’an. It is the longest surah of the Quran, containing 111 verses. The surah is named after the miraculous night journey (Isra) of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Makkah to Jerusalem, which is described in verse 1. The surah concludes by reminding of the great rewards that await those who believe in Allah and do righteous deeds. It is a reminder to all of us to strive for the best in this life and the hereafter.

August 1 will mark the start of the Islamic Calendar 2023, commonly known as the Hijri Calendar, and July 21 will mark its conclusion. This Islamic lunar calendar is based on the new moon's appearance, which ushers in each month. On August 23, 2022, the first day of Muharram 1, 1444 AH, the Islamic New Year will start. There will be twelve months in this calendar year: Muharram, Safar, Rabi al-Awwal, Rabi al-Thani, Jumada al-Ula, Jumada al-Akhira, Rajab, Sha'aban, Ramadan, Shawwal, Dhu al-Qi'dah, and Dhu al-Hijjah. The months of the islamic calendar are not synchronised with the Gregorian calendar because the Islamic calendar is shorter than the Gregorian calendar.
